Ok, this was fairly easy to do, required about 30 minutes time.
The tools I used was a 7mm combination wrench, 5/16" combination wrench, a mini grease gun, and a set of adapters that I got at Napa.
Here we go.
The offending vehicle, 01 F-350 dually V-10.
Heres the nasty little joint thats hard to get to.
I removed the plug with a 7mm wrench.
I installed a standard straight grease fitting, as the 90 degree are to long.
I installed it using the 5/16" wrench.
I purchased these adapters to make a 90 degree "bend" for the grease gun.
Here they are put together, and stuck on the grease fitting.
With grease gun in place.
My personal preference of grease. I am not endorsing or selling.
I just recently adopted that procedure for greasing my uppers. I bought the adapter pieces like yours from tractor supply for around $20. Makes the job much quicker!
That's a nice lift you've got. Even though there is plenty of room underneath these trucks for working on them, I would love to have a lift.
Thanks for posting the pics up of the adapters.
you cant fit the 90 fitting in the space or its just easier to leave the straight in and buy the 20 dollar fitting? i've been screwing the 90 in then greasing then removing and putting the plug back in my 04 for a year now and it sucks trying to get my fingers in there to get that dang 90 in there

For me, its easier to just leave the regular fitting in there and use the adapter. I too was swapping out the 90deg for the plug for about a year now. The setup shown above works great!
I was going to grind the 90deg fitting like others on here have done, but I read a different thread about using this adapter and that seemed like the way to go.
Notice in your pic --- the nipple is not screwed in all the way -- as it is too long.
Two strategies --- after greasing, remove it and replace it with the factory bolt.
In my case, I added some washers and left it in.
Not to long, as they are NPT thread, so they are sealed. They do not hit the U-joint, so they work fine. I already had them on hand, and they are longer threaded than "normal" ones, but work nicely.
I've got the 90 zerks installed on my truck. If you take them to the grinder and take off one or two threads. Then you file the them down and you can leave them installed.
