Oil Leaks

My 06 just tripped 82,000 miles and I've developed some oil leaks. I think my main seal and my oil pan gasket are both leaking. Can you drop the oil pan with the motor in the truck?

Looking from the bottom of the motor its seems I have another leak on the passenger side towards the back and coming more from the top of the motor. I know that it is pretty vague, but does anyone know where this leak could be coming from. Are there any problem areas on these motors that are common for oil leaks?

Right now none of these leaks are reaching the ground yet, but there is definitely a buildup from the leaks. I'm not real concerned since they are not drastic, but I want to address these soon. Do these motors just have these leak problems and they are just going to happen again, or is fixing them a resonable option?

Hello David,
Yes there are various locations that these engines can leak oil. Some are faily easy to fix and some require the engine to be removed to get fixed. Since your truck is still under warrenty, I would take it to a Ford shop and have them put dye in the oil and diagnose the exact location/s that oil is leaking from. If you choose to get it fixed under warrenty don't wait to your warrenty is almost out since these oils leaks aren't always fixed on the first attempt if there are multiple leaks.

Some common leak areas that come to mind:
CAC tube
Oil filter cap
Turbo oil drain tube
HPOP cover
Glow Plug boots
Rear engine cover
Bedplate
Cam position sensor
Crank position sensor

On both of my 6.0s a 2004 and 2006 the oil leaks have come solely from the glow plug harness, they seem to be a problem.

Does the warranty carry over even though I am not the original owner? How long does the warranty last?
