Fuel bowl leak

I developed a leak today that seems to be coming from the fuel bowl. I thought it was the drain valve at first but after looking at it better it looks like it may be from below the drain valve. There is a disk that is about 2in in diameter and held in place with a snap ring, this is where it looks to be leaking. Does anyone know if this can be fixed with a new o ring. Or is it a bigger problem? Thanks

This sounds like you are describing the rear of the HPOP. Is the leak oil or fuel?

Rear of HPOP:

I think you are looking at the snap ring from the HPOP. Are you sure it is diesel and not oil? can you smell diesel? It might be leaking from the fuel valve and running to the pump.

Then kupaa is right. Fuel is leaking onto the HPOP. Most likely the fuel drain o-rings.

Well, got a new drain valve and installed. Cleaned valley and will check after I drive it again to see if leak is gone. Easy enough to change, but a hot engine is not too fun to work on. And why does Ford use those torques bit screws for something like that?

I never figured that either.I guess because most folks do not keep them in their tool box.

Finally got around to checking my work and the leak is gone. Now completly dry. And the RiffRaff boots are keeping everything oil free too. Plus as a bonus I now have a very clean intake valley.

I wanted to get it done quickly so I went to the stealership. The local auto parts did not have it. But as common as the leak is the dealer had them in stock. May have had to pay more but my leak is gone, valley is clean and I am happy now. I need to find the exact size of those o rings, I have a line on a place to get jet fuel o rings that would work just great.

Glad you fixed her up fast Terry. Just for a heads up, because these trucks can spring a leak anytime, anywhere, invest in a Mechanics o-ring kit from Guzzle Bob, Clay sells the kit too and its great to have that kit if something happens, no running around or down time, its in your glove if the enevitable happens..

How did you clean your valley? I'd love to get mine cleaned and I suppose I could have with the turbo and pedestal out but I didn't want to get junk into the engine.
