well its not a 80-86 f series but its close and i know u guys...
my 79 E-250 wont start... horn works, lights work... then i hit the ignition and something clicks, and nothing works. just once click then no horn no lights will work for a bit... replaced battery, selenoid, cable to selenoid, cable to starter, ground to block, starter, and yes im sure i wired it right lol.... grandpa's truck blew a spark plug out of the head (dented the hood and everything!) so i'm kinda in a hurry to get this damn thing running...
Have you made sure the battery clamps are tight enough? I've had times where my clamps were tight enough to allow power to smaller things, but as soon as the starter tried to kick on and draw a bunch of amps, the connection wasn't good enough and everything lost power.
Also look for any burnt-out fusible links under the hood, near the battery and solenoid.
replaced battery cables, took new starter in and had it tested.... battery tested good, then bad, then good.... staying good now. got it to start!!! shut it off and tried again only to find the problem started over... WTF
