Will a carb for a 77 with a 351M make the engine miss? like not idle smooth cause with mine i changed the plugs, wire's, and put a whole new distributor and still the engine still miss's, so i was wondering if my carb needs rebuild. Thanks guys for any help
A miss usually means there's something wrong with one cylinder. Something wrong with the carburetor will effect all 8. What kind of miss are we talking about? The word "miss" gets thrown around a lot. I'd start with a compression test. If it's idling rough, then that's not really a miss. I'd put a vacuum gauge on it and see what it tells you.
While it doesnt really idle ruff that bad, just a little. I was thinkin maybe the diaphgram on the carb might have moisture cause before i swapped engines from a 300 to this engine, the carb been outside but ive kept it cover'd but its been outside for months then i started to put the engine in, ive just took apart the carb and just cleaned the inside just in case if any water was in the bowel but now i've notice it doesnt idle smooth i mean it idles alright but not the way i want it too
I've notice my truck runs smooth well the float is fully closed but without it getting gas in the carb though...could that be my culprite here? would just rebuildin the carb be a good idea to go cause im getting good compression on all cyclinders.
