I just looked at a 99 w/ 6spd and was was wondering about the clutch pedal.
It engaged and disengaged very close to the floor. I had all kinds of issues my 6spd in an early 99 I had 10+ years ago, but I never had a pedal engage and disengage that close to the floor.
I am assuming it may need a clutch as I don't recall there being an adjustment on it.
Just looking at it and wondered if I should budget for a clutch if I buy it.
Im not too sure but it could be it just has some air in the system and needs to be re-bled. My friends ranger was doing that and we bled the clutch and it works great now.
Did you ask how old the clutch was? How low to the floor was it? Usually a lower friction point on the pedal means a newer clutch. A friction point near the top of the pedal indicates a worn clutch.
It works the same on our hydraulic clutches. When I got mine replaced, it took some getting used to having the friction point that low.

They don't know much about it. It is at a local used lot.
The clutch engaged and disengaged good, but it was down close to the floor (seemed like within an inch or two.)
Yes most of our trucks do engage way down low close to the floor. I have a almost new Valair and it is close to the floor.
One thing to think about if its on the floor is it may have a bent fork. But also as said the plastic bushing makes a difference to.
my .02...from what i gather, they just engage pretty low if they're good, and everything's "normal"...as said, if it's engaging way up, that would indicate a worn clutch...if you can only barely move your foot, or cannot get in or out of a gear until the clutch is mashed to the floor, that may indicate a fork issue...since that was not the OP's question, i would say that in this case, that clutch is mormal and should be OK...
Will they let you take the truck to a mechanic for a quick look over? If they have nothing to hide they shouldn't have much of an issue with it. It may be worth the few extra bucks to save you a headache later on down the road.

I may do that if they are willing to deal on it. They have had it over a month so I would think they are willing to deal, but who knows. It is kind of beat up, but the motor has no blowby and seems to run well.
Im not certain but I think I've heard that they have a Dual Mass Clutch, I've heard that you can save money by getting an aftermarket Single Mass Clutch. Someone with more knowledge will chime in soon.
