Running into a few more issues with my brother in laws truck. He was having trouble getting it started the other morning. We swapped the glow plugs out, and this morning it still wouldnt start. And when he does get it started it idles very rough for a few minutes, it almost sounds like a miss, or an injector not firing.
The first thing I would check is the glow plug relay. Changing the glow plugs wont do any good if the relay sending power to them is inoperative.
Often times, the miss at cold start is caused by a cylinder or two that has not built up enough heat to burn off the fuel the injectors are throwing at it. Once it fires, all is good.
I am starting to lean away from a glow plug/ relay issue. Possibly and injector issue, we poured some diesel kleen in it yesterday and in a very short time it was running noticibly better. He went out and started it this morning going to work and it started on the first crank.
So i am still kinda scratching my head until we get AE on it.
Doesnt really seem like an ICP issue, when my ICP went out the truck would run fine until i put the throttle to it and then it would fall on its face. I know the same problem could have different symptoms though.
We will be looking into those possibilties this weekend.
I appreciate you guys hanging with me on this one, he is coming to me like i should know all about them. I had to explain to him if it wasnt for FTE i'd be even more confused than he is.
It took me 2 years to get him out from behind the Goats head(d**ge), so now i am trying to keep him in the blue oval!!!
