Hey everyone,
I have had my truck now for about 8 months now. The other day when I put my key in the ignition I heard very faintly the chime sound(you know like ding, ding). I then put my lights on and took out the key and also heard the chime again(to let me know that the lights were left on) but very faintly.
My question is, is there any way to fix the sound of the chime in order to hear it at a decent volume?
Where can I start to check this?
Don't know if it can be made louder and don't know if my experience applies to your truck. I have a 94 F250. The chime module is a black box about the size of a pack of cigarettes. Mine is up under the dash behind the ash tray and above the transmission hump. It is a plug in module and very easy to remove and replace.
I don't have mine handy right now, but I remember it as a plastic module with no external controls. Only thing visible was the plug.
Yes, they're inside the chime module, which is probably near the glove box inside the dash. You can see some in this photo album in the second pic. Click to enlarge & read the captions.
