Anybody know where you can get some old orignal horns rebuild so they will work. They sure would look a lot better than the new ones I bought last week for my 52 F1.
Actually you could probably do the old trumpet horns your self. They have a "blued" steel diaphragm that rusts when they sit. Usually if you clean those and the points off, then follow the "tuning" instructions in the shop manual, they work fine.
I have four of them I reconditioned. The old 6 Volt horns will work on either 6 or 12 volt electrical systems. You just need to be sure that you use a 12 volt Horn Relay. 6 Volt horns on a 12 volt system are LOUD!
The last pair I saw on E-bay went (untested) for $85! Which is a bit much. $20 ea is a good price normally. I know Ilya "51 Panel Man" has (had) at least four of them if he's not going to use them himself. The two red ones work now, the other ones need cleaning up!
That one marked 51 is off an F-Series - note the bracket. The ones with the rounded backs like that are easier to refurb as opposed to the later style that had flat backs like mine - I used those because of space considerations with the firewall/battery box on the full tilt.
