Rear camera

Has anyone taken delivery of their 2011 that has a rear view camera?? I was curious how the camera works, does it show the view on the radio display or mirror?? What's the view like? Thanks...

Rear camera comes on when the vehicle is in reverse. It displays on the NAV system if equipped, otherwise on the rear view mirrror. It uses the left third of the rear view mirror. Works ok, but it is smallish. The NAV display is of course much larger and you see more detail.

The one I test drove had NAV and so it showed up there. It was absolutely incredible. I've never had this option before, but if/when I buy a new Superduty, it will definitely have it. You can see from the top of the Ford emblem on the tailgate all the way back ~60 yards. It would be perfect for backing up to a trailer because you can see your hitch. It also has lines on the screen indicating how far you are away from objects. Top to bottom, front to back, these trucks are absolutely amazing! Now if we could just do something about that sticker price!

One thing to keep in mind, if I am correct, with the NAV price you also get the "premium sound system with 8 speakers" as well as "Sirius Travel Link, which is weather radar and traffic alerts and such" hopefully that helps justify the $1,800 price tag... But go figure, whats $1,800 after spending $60,000....LOL

Sirius is a subscription service. Something like $20-$30 extra per month?

If you have $1800 laying around that you do not know what to do with, PM me and I will send you my address.

Checks are OK. I trust you.

That $1800 turns into about $10 at trade-in time.

If you get the nav thru the lariat ultimate package it comes out to around $600.

As for the sirius subscription. full price is $23.99 a month.

The woman i talked too when i put it in my name who actualy works for ford and not sirius said that sirius can give upto 65% off regular price if i prepay for a year to keep me on. That if i tell them i know that they will almost always give atleast 50% off regular price because they get a bonus for keeping you on vs you leaving.

I guess when it comes to the lariat ultimate package it depends on what other options your getting.

Personaly I know in my climate the cooled seats are almost a must. Which on its own is $1000.

Funny how luxuries become necessities.

If you carry a slide-in camper does that block the antenna for the GPS & Sirius in the navigation system? Something to think about if your intended use includes a slide-in...

Joseph (Heated and cooled seats on the other hand = Requirement)

The GPS antenna is at the front top of the truck above the driver. I guess it all depends how far up the slide-in goes.
