I was wanting to switch it to syn vs regular. Would it help the truck? Is it too late to change it to syn?
I can definitely tell a difference in the way my truck runs with synthetic oil. Additionally given the cost of synthetic vs conventional for the number of miles I drive each year (around 12K) I consider the cost difference to be minor. I think the synthetic vs conventional question is something that has to be considered with respect to each persons situation, driving habits, climate, etc. For me synthetic is the way to go but that doesn't mean this is best for everyone.

I use Rotella but you will find 6.0L owners that use pretty much every major brand of oil on the market. Just make sure that it is a properly rated diesel oil and remember to only use Racor or Motorcraft filters. I buy mine from DieselFiltersOnline where they are much cheaper than my local dealership.
Follow this link for a guide to changing oil in case you haven't done it previously.
The owners manual says to use 15 quarts for oil changes, however I use around 13.5 to 14. I try to get the oil level to about halfway between the min and max on the dipstick.
ok well I was trying to see if anyone was using Mobil 1 Delvac?? or Rotella Syn.
I was going to switch the truck to syn. Would you even switch it?
You'll find that oil threads meander all over the place. Do a forum search on previous threads of this type and you'll see what I mean.
I use Rotella synthetic (reference my post #7) and lots of others do as well. It is a popular oil among 6.0L owners.
Based on how it works for me I recommend synthetic oil.
If you don't get the info you are looking for from this thread use the forum search and you'll find enough oil threads to keep you reading for days. There have been so many on FTE that lots of people don't even open up new threads on the topic because pretty much every conceivable point has already been discussed over and over and over again.
