I am having a bit off a heating problem with my Ranger. Its a 2007 2wd 2.3l engine. When I turn the heat on an turn the dial clockwise its more like an air conditioner then a heater. Something tells me the switch is not doing its job switching from cooling to heating. Any ideas here. Thanks for any help.
Anybody have any input at all? I wonder if theres another forum I could get some answers from. Seems like the site is not as active as it used to be. I used to get answers pretty quick in years past but any more its pretty dead.
Can anybody please respond to my question? Moderators anybody. I am looking for any kind off help. Please refer me to someplace that can answer my question. Is this question showing up on the forums. Maybe my computer is messed up. HELP PLEASE
I don't venture here much, but can say that most FoMoCo vehicles use what is called a 'blend door' to modulate the temperature. It will mix heated air from the heater core with cooled air from the evaporator [in DEFROST or MIXED mode] to meet the desired temperature.
My old Ranger has cables, most later models use an electric motor [which has a high hinge failure rate] to move the blend door. Search on "blend door" for a better description.
The way to test for heater operation is to put the mode control to floor position. That should disable the A/C compressor. You should then get hot air from the heater, and if you don't, the blend door may be broken or stuck in the 'cool' position.
