my fan sometimes turn slow at idle and once the engine warms up it spins faster.... but it never actually stops spinning all together is this how its supposed to be?
yea if i get on it and the motor heats up the fan really gets after it.....
temp gauge never goes above the N on normal is that supposed to be like that?
havent installed my gauge pillar yet with mechanical gauges.... shes not going down the highway at the moment just working the farm while i get it built how i want it and fixing the issues the PO didnt let us know of
Sounds like she's working like she should - really as long as she don't overheat while idling you're doing good. Mine had the clutch start slipping bad, she'd get hot by just sitting in my driveway, I locked the clutch so now I have the tornado under the hood all the time, but she stays cool
When a fan clutch costs $150, I dont blame you. I replaced mine last year along with the rest of my cooling system. There was enough play in the clutch I felt it may have contributed to the demise of my water pump.
Yep, that's just what I was referring too. Get this tho, I tried loosening mine like a year ago, and it wouldn't budge. Then last fall I went to replace the water pump (preventive maintenance) and when I put the wrench on the fan nut the darn thing turned by hand!!! How did it get loose when the blade ain't allowed to turn with respect to the eater pump I have no clue, but the only reason why it didn't fly off into the radiator were the two straps/braces I have that lock the blade down to the water pump pulley bolts...
That's my line of thinking as well, hence why mine has a rather hefty amount of red loctite on it. Some folks say that ain't needed and just tighten it good, but I don't trust it...
Not that mine is broken but I can't wait to ditch that mech fac and get an electric. Flexalite makes a sweet setup that covers the rad perfectly. It shouldn't a lot better in the cooling dept, easier to get warm too. The ability to set the on off temps is appealing!!!
