Can you give us some details or a link to Jim's tools.

I don't plan on doing this again anytime soon but would use a combination of the old tools and new tools.

No worries man, I didn't come up with it. I just wanted something to offer customers so that they could swap them in the truck and not have to buy a tool. Not perfect but better than other options.

They certainly got the job done and I am glad you made them available.

DIY-Injectors.com Click on the Injector tools link. His appears to use a threaded puller.

Thanks Trevor. A much, much better buy then from Whitaker Tools

But the loaner set from Clay was free. Hard to beat that price.

Sure is, but with this being my second go around, may as well have the tools in my tool box.

Kudos, lauds, and the singing of praises would officially be in your reputation folder, Robin, but alas, the powers above have thwarted me by a technique designed to prevent the over-use of that system. Shucks! Haveta' catcha' next time....

Yes, I grabbed the PDF last night, but over-wrote it this morning. I didn't look to see if the duplicate paragraph was in the original or not, but figured if you dropped it from here, you got the other, too.

Hopefully, I'll never have to make use of that info (I'm still using the green), but if I do, yours will be the reference guide, including stripping the head down as you did. Great work!

But that's your norm!

Yep, I fixed my post. I was doing a copy and paste from a word doc to do the post and copied wrong. The PDF doesn't have that error.

Thanks for the kind words and Take Care Pop.

Good write up Robin.

Sooo, basically what you are saying is if your truck came with green coolant, dont flush and go to red coolant or the adhesive around the injector cups will dissolve?

This pertains to early-birds only. Late-99's on up have a different composition to their cup sealant that IS compatable with gold and ELC.

Thanks Pop, thats good to know. I just channge to ELC last summer when I did a new waterpump. I was getting tired of dipping little test strips all the time.

BTW anybody need any SCA test strips? I think they are still sitting in my shop.

EDIT- strike last offer, they expired in 2008....

I bet they still work fine. If someone needs them, you can send me one of the strips and I'll test it side by side with a fresh strip in my tractor. Not fool proof, but if it's an exact match, it's better than nothing, and I'm guessing pretty accurate.
