Electric brake control box

My 03 F250 7.3 got totaled 7 weeks ago. I now have a 05 F250 6.0. I took out my Prodogy brake control before the insureance company took the truck. My new truck has an Escort DP brake control unit and everything I have read about this unit is junk compaired to the Prodogy. I looked at the wiring and was quite surprised to see all the wiring going into the 5 wires of the brake unit. I did see were both units only have 5 wires and they are the same colored wires. Can I just cut the 5 wires and wire the same color wires that are on the Prodogy unit?

Both controllers should use the same five basic wires for hot, ground, lights, and signal.

Way I understand it is the wire colors are pretty universal throughout the industry.

I installed a Prodigy in my truck the other day in a 3 minutes. Haven't used it yet, but it was plug and play with the supplied harness.
