if it is cracked, it will spew antifreeze as soon as the temp comes up. if you have a bad cap, it will allow the antifreeze out into the bottle,without leaking, but will not suck it back in when it cools off. if tank is plastic, you can not repair it. copper can be soldered, or brazed, aluminum has to be welded.most times the later 2 repairs don't hold up, and just costs you more to replace the radiator later.

All can be fixed with an epoxy like JB weld. Just make sure the surface is clean of all coolant, starting fluid works well for that.
I made a raditor for my yamaha ATV with an aluminum GM a/c evaporator using alums pipes and JB weld. Its only held for 6 years so far.
