Now i used to have dual batterys in my 85' and it was so much simpler as there was tons of room under the hood but my 96 is another story so much more in the way
anyways i need some ideas on how to get these all hooked up
Battery 1 to:
alt (144amp output on birthsheet)
celinoid for starter (also feeds power to truck systems so 75-80A max)
starter celinoid (yes there are two its a stupid setup) (large load not sure of the draw but i can find out if i have to)
second battery (using 1/0ga most likely)
cab power feed (1ga right now but will need to move it so its going to be to short so i will use 1/0ga)
so onto one battery terminal i need to connect
2 - 4ga
3 -1/0ga
that's a HUGE wire bundle so what is there in the way of a distro block or something i can mount beside batt#1 to connect them all to? or some other idea
Right now second battery is for added run time as the system could be on for hours at a time while I'm working. and heavy duty battery boosting (heavy equipment)
I'm not opposed to building something if its going to work.
Thoughts guys?
Edit; truck is a 96' Ford F150 XL, Regular cab, 300I6, 5spd, 2.73's.
Yes, you can use a distro block, audio battery terminal should have a large selection of terminals with dual 1/0 outs. Short runs of 1/0 to a distro block (say 1-2 feet) should supply more than enough power for typical uses. Keep your runs as short as possible and don't forget to fuse them. I would say two fuses (unless your running a winch which will take another solenoid), one on the alt feed and one on the truck feed as the starter solenoid run should be really short anyway.
Being the 5/16th stud will have the equiv length of less than 1/2" it shouldn't really matter which is closest to the battery. I use the 5/16" studs on my optima blue top for my winch and they handle the 400a draw with ease.
