Sorry, I'm sure this has been covered a million times... but with the new search engine I'm unable to search for -
302 mpg
which I think is what would give me the most relevant results.
Can someone fire me a link to a thread or threads where this was discussed? Or, reply with how many miles / gallon you're getting with your 302.
Mine's a 71 regular cab / 302 / auto / 2wd, stock other than dual exhaust, and I'm only getting 9 mpg. I thought that was a little low.

I have a 79 F150 with a 302 auto...and I was avg. 14-16 mpg.... What is your gear ratio? Also....check the choke on your carb. it may be stuck, and the mixture setting on the carb. itself may need some adjustments....it may be running to rich!

I do suspect a rich condition... strong fumes. Don't think the choke is stuck though... it's manual. May need a slight adjustment.
I know how to adjust the idle mixture... but isn't the only way to adjust the running mixture to re-jet?
Oh, and isn't a 79 Dura-Spark?
