so i been a little busy and got some things worked out with the VA and now im starting college this fall and uncle sam is paying for all of it lol but thats not what i started this for
i was kinda curious what kind of difference running gt40 heads (brand new ones not junkyard units) with 1.7 rockers (im trying to skip the cam) will do with SD... im going to upgrade my gears to 3.73 and probably put a AOD inplace of the C6....
ill be getting shorties with 3" exhaust....
maf conversion will have to wait but its in the works lol
and then for cosmetics its going to look like a lightning xD minus the wheels.... i dont like those lol
there will be other things done to it while im in school as soon as i figure out my schedule
well when i swap to maf im going to have a 396 stroker built to set in it
i never said i wasnt going to swap cams i just said im trying to skip doing that... like put it off.... and new gt40 heads are fairly cheap and will make more power over these stock pos on it now but im open to suggestions....
lol the only thing im set on doing this summer is the gears transmission and upgrading from the fugly 88 front clip to a 92-96 with a lighting bumpers....
oh and yea im guessing they are the X ones because here is the manufacturers # M-6049-X306
^Yeah, summit had them for a really good price (about the same as a set of the gt-40x's). I just ordered a set. I've read that these heads require longer pushrods. They recommend 7.3" hardened pushrods for hydraulic flat tappet set-ups, and 6.75" hardened pushrods for hydraulic rollers.
They also recommend upgrading to 24lb fuel injectors, and a minimum of 2 1/2" free flowing exhaust. Of course, when you put in bigger injectors, you have to get it tuned.
