Reverse sensor question

My reverse sensor quit working, when I put the shifter in Reverse the light that indicates "off" lights up. The alarm does not sound at all. Any suggestions?

If you have Auto enguinity program there will be DTS for the rear sensor it will tell you wich sensor is the problem . Check your bumper to make sure no one hit it apperantly it doesnt take much to put them sensors out and as soon as they are out of alignment they dont work. or check to make sure the plugs arn't foiled up

I don't have or know anyone who has an AE I'll have to do some checking, my bumper is good and I can't see anything obviously wrong with the sensors or wires. I'll crawl under it this weekend and look more thouroughly. Thanks for answering.

Make sure there is not dirt in the little gap around the sensor.

BEfoe I had my scanner I found the bad one by turning the key(engine not on) put in reverse with wheels blocked and put my ear to each sensor. The one that wasnt making a faint clicking sound was the bad one. Replaced it and worked like a charm.. Better than replacing all four which arent as cheap as they should be...

When you mentioned clicking I decided to use a stethescope to listen to my sensors (works very well) I found one that wasn't clicking so I am assuming that it is the culprit. I'll go buy a new one and try it. Thanks for the help, reps sent. l will keep you posted.

EDIT: I speak from experience, don't take one apart unless it is known to be not working, They are not repairable. I took my bad one apart and found a hair size wire that was corroded apart, more evidence of the ravages of "non-corrosive de-icer" used by WSDOT.

OK, problem solved, called the stealership, They wanted $118.00 for a new sensor, but the parts guy says "they all appear to be the same for several years". Being the cheapskate I am, I went to the wrecking yard and found some on a 01 Exploder, $25.00 and out the door.
