help dual tank problems.

i have a 96 f-250 hd 4x4 460 and i run my rear tank cause the gauge works on it. but when i use it, it also pumps gas into my front tank. how do i know? cause my front tank started over flowing one day lol. is there any way to stop this? or what causes it? can i just eliminate the front tank all together? any insight would be much appreciated!

You have a bad valve inside your front tank.
This valve may be the high pressure check valve or the return shuttle valve.
To fix it you have to drop the tank (or take the bed off) and replace the Fuel Delivery Module (or Assembly) that is inside your front tank. You could also fix (replace) the sender in the front tank at the same time.

Have a question about the fuel diagram

I would like to only use the rear tank and from looking at the diagram I was wondering if I can clamp the return fuel line to the front tank so no gas will go there and I can drive only on the gas from the rear tank. Thanks

Yes you can just unplug both lines from the tank and snap a plug in both lines and tie them up and remove the tank. You will leave the selector switch set to the in use tank at all times or plug in a one tank jumper that will only select the rear tank.
