I just received my new pryo for my 6.9/turbo engine swap project. The engine is on the stand so I have complete access to everything so where is the best place to put the sensor/probe?
I have to put one in the motorhome this summer. But still have no damn idea where to put the gauge! I hate the look of any after market gauges sitting on my nice old brown vinyl dash!
Here is a picture for future reference for people installing a pryo sending unit on the 6.9/7.3 diesel. I am sure glad I installed it now before the engine was installed in my pickup.
Now I need to figure out where to mount the pryo gauge and boost gauge. I wish someone made a pillar mount for the older pickups as that would be the ideal place to mount them. Maybe I can fab something up myself to mount it on the pillar and still look good. If anyone has any ideas and pictures send them my way!
So how did you get that installed, did you just drill a hole in the headers? Did you have to thread the whole somehow?
I did just drilled a hole, three steps up to a final size of 7/16. I then used a 1/4 pipe tap to thread the hole. I have a complete tap and die set along with a complete drill set so it was very easy to do, especially since the engine was out of the pickup.
You can buy the tap at a local parts store, hardware store, home depot ect and it tells you what size hole to drill before you tap the hole.
Is that location going to interfere with anything in the engine bay???

I don't think so, but i will find out soon. Worse case is I put a pipe plug in and relocate it.
I for see attempting to put the engine in, to mark where I need to modify the fire wall to clear the turbo down pipe ect, and then pulling it out to make the needed changes. So I will know at that time if it will be in the way.
