Tranny flush question

I have a 2005 F350 V10 automatic with about 40,000 miles. My question is when the dealer flushes the transmission do they still need to drop the pan and clean the internal filter? Oh, and has Mercon SP been changed with a newer fluid/name? Thanks.

No need to drop the pan. The filter is external, and only a screen internal. Mercon SP has been replaced by Mercon LV.

Sorry but Mercon v does not replace mercon sp If your transmission calls for mercon sp that is what you must use.

Correct. Mercon LV replaces SP.
