Two weeks ago at 6am I had a owl that wanted to ride in the passenger side I guess.I hit him on the passenger side winsheild running 65 mph...
Yes...It shattered the whole window....Had it replaced the same day.
Dan, my In-laws have done mobile auto glass repair for ~30yrs. My .02 worth of free advice is to require the replacement be a factory glass. (LOF or PPG) As many other industries, after market companies have been producing glass (like Viking etc.) and do not "fit" as well, and barely meet the DOT certification.
Our windshields are big, and imperfections in the glass are more noticeable... You'd be upset if everytime you had to look right at an intersection, you saw distorted/wavy images. Just sayin.

Good point, my F250 had cheap relacement windshield with a big defect right in my line of sight. I had to do the gangsta lean to see around it.
Do that Superduty windshield. I know it's something small, and most people don't even notice it. But I had to do mine a few weeks ago and I look at it every time I get in and smile a little bit.

hahahh get outa here thats a crazy story. it would have scared the **** outa me.
Peter- It was a shop out of Salinas or Watsonville. I'll try to find the receipt, but I think it is buried deep somewhere... When you're ready to get one, call some shops and tell them what you have and that you want the Carlite SUPER DUTY "logo" window. They'll initially be slightly confused since you have an EX, but the woman I spoke to finally started asking the right questions and I told her it is the one that will fit an F350 and she said no problem. $227.
I did have one issue with the seal on it. The seal had a manufacturing defect that caused it to separate at speed. Scared the bageezus out of me at first, swerving across the freeway to hit the exit. Turned out it was slightly apart and the wind would "strum" it at speed and I got MASSIVE vibration sound in the cab. Basically turned the cab into a big fat bass drum
The guy who installed it, a total pro if you ask me, said he'd replace the whole thing on Carlite's dime if I wanted, but he recommended just sealing it with his special sealant. It's lifetime warranted, so I let him fix it. It still works great two years later or so.
We need to have a mod/maint day over at my place sometime. Plenty of room to work on a few trucks and tons of tools. Fridge in the garage too!
I got the same thing on Friday, Mine is on the left side. It started with a rock chip and has now grown to two cracks from top to bottom. I called the glass co. a new windshield is $254.00 and my insurance has a $250.00 deductible. I can't win.

Don't feel bad, I had a fitty dollar deduct. back about 7 years when I replaced some glass, with the same insurance company too, Its a 250.00 deduct. now,. I got a crack running from middle bottom all the way across the bottom of mine, still passes inspection but it needs it. Superduty Carlite's on the list and thanks for the glass manufacture recommendations from all. Good deal Dan and I missed your SD windshield Jason when you were over..
