Good stuff,#22 fuse was shot, replaced and it started, unable to locate fuel bowl heater, manual says that #22 is for fuel line heater, ideas where that is located.
Also discovered #!&#*! mouse nest under fuel filter body, now have to consider chewed wires as possible problem.

similar problem piggybacking

My 96 350 7.3 has suddenly developed the disconcerting habit of cutting out suddenly. If I leave it sit for several hours, it starts right up and away we go. It feels like an electrical problem rather than fuel, but I could be wrong.. I'll be looking at fuse 22 tomorrow after reading this thread, but this seems like a different problem.. thanks for any clues

Have you changed your cps? Does the tach move while cranking? If not the cps is your problem. I'd change it and see. You need a spare anyway. 25 bucks at IH or Ford

Balky CPS ?

Thanks for the help everyone. Went down to my locally owned small town Ford dealer Both mechanics confirmed the diagnosis. So I paid $40 odd dollars including tax for a MotorcraFT PART(Origin not stated on package) which was very dark grey bordering on black, installed the bugger in about half an hour(Would've been less if I'd remembered that everything on these seems to be METRIC)... And the old girl still runs. I wont know till later if this was the problem, if she stalls out on me on a twolane road miles from home, most likely. Anyway, as I said, thanks for the tip.
