I'm going to be pulling my camper 9000lbs. And I took the programer off the truck and returned it to stock. My question is I have the custom tow tune and would it be benificial for me to run it or just leave it stock?
I would definately take it off and let the "original motor" do it's thing. I haul for a living with my 04' upwards of 12k fifth wheels and trailers.
Cut it loose and let the turbo sing for ya'.
There are also lot hp tunes that do a very good job on trans tunes if you don't want a higher hp tune. Depending on where you get your tunes from, with any hp tune, the trans will be set to handle that certain hp level.

I haul for a living as well and I haul 16k worth of horseflesh and various ag. related products as well and I can tell you that a good custom tow tune can be better then the stock tuning. There are a lot of things that can be done, particularly with the tranny, that a good tow tune can do for you that they don't do in the stock tune. I imagine mainly due to the fact that it has to be one size fits all for the people that buy the truck.
Now I'm not saying go out with a race tune and tow with that. That would be a big no-no, but a good custom tow tune can be very good. However, mpg is going to be all relative. I wouldn't go by what one person says that they get towing their 9k, because that doesn't mean that you'll get the same thing. As far as power goes, most people for a stock 6.0 usually don't push more then an extra 50hp over stock for a tow tune. You can actually change the tranny tuning and have it feel like your getting more power by how it tries to stay in the powerband longer(ie when using T/H mode, it always seems like it was more spunky with that engaged then running it normal).
