Help on some gaskets

Hi gang,

I am waiting for the carb to come back, I am putting some stuff back enough to run it out of the garage. Fuel pump--Any gasket sealer to be used?? Intake manifold Same question. Valley and valve cover gaskets. Any sealent to be used here. I have already discussed my waterpump . I will be using the red shelac.

I test mounted my alternator inlieu of the generator.
JULIE I need a temp hook up for the alternator. Its a one wire type, with the plug set up ( red jumper to the hot terminal and yellow wire to Ing. The guys at PASCO said this setup would help charge at idle.
On the hot terminal, what will go there. A lead from Bat??

Thanks to all

The yellow post/wire is an exciter that senses voltage drop and needs to be hooked up to the ignition switch as instructed or the alternator will not feel the need to turn itself on (Oh Baby).

The Red post is power out and should be wired with at least 10 AWG wire or if it is 100 amp or more 8 AWG.

Normally it would run from the alternator to where ever your power distributes from, then up through the ammeter and out to the same post on the starter solenoid as the positive battery cable is connected to.

For just a test run or a quick charge, you can run it straight over to that post on the stareter solenoid. BUT don't use it like this very long or with anything "turned on." The wiring you have going from the solenoid through your ignition switch and down to the distribution point is not heavy enough to backflow all that current down to your distribution point yet.

I'm not sure I'd fool with a temporary set up, but rather wire and it as a finished install, and test/use it as a system in that final configuration

Jim, if you would like the MS Power Point file those drawings are in, write me an e-mail at babbiebuddie@***.net and I'll send them - larger and much easier to read.
