Our great SD's have a 7 round pin plug in to the truck. I am looking at buying a camper this weekend and it has a 7 blade style plug in, which I believe is the standard for RV's. Which is the best way to go about making this work for me?
My truck will be the only one pulling this trailer and I plan on keeping this trailer for a long time. Are there any adapters out there so I can go to blade style to round pole style? So I can get the trailer home?
How hard would it be to put a new end or whole cable/wire on the camper to have a 7 round pin style plug?
Help guide me in the easiest and best way to solve this.
The standard 7-pin on a Super Duty is the 6 blade pins with the 7th round pin in the center. If your trailer is wired to the standard, it should just plug right in.
If your truck has a different type of plug on it, then someone has replaced the standard plug with something else.
If you look at the following, the 7-way flat pin connector is what came standard on the truck.

Mine came stock with the 7 round pin style. The bottom picture in your link. 7 way round pin vehicle connector. I know it hasn't been changed and this is how I got it because the truck was ordered by me and I have been the only owner.
That adapter looks like it should work. I've never seen a Ford truck with the 7 round pins before. I think eventually I'd change the truck to the more common connector.
I changed the round pin out for the blade style when I bought it last year. Nice thing about the SD, you should be able to unbolt and unplug from the main harness. You can either buy a new pigtail to wire to the new plug or wire the existing pigtail, then plug it back in. Being pre-wired for trailers is a great feature on these trucks.
