03 bulb replacement for moonroof switch

How do I replace the console piece from the headliner to replace the bulb? I have rear air controls up there too and I was reluctant to just pull.

Thanks.

No Bulbs

I have several switches (windowand sunroof) that have the bulbs out but the switch still functions fine. Went to Ford yesterday and the bulbs cannpt be replaced, they are integral to the switch, Also the switches on Driver door are one assembly (all 4 windows and window lock) $75 sunroof switch alone is also $75. Thwe back two single window switches can be bought after market for $18 each not sure what Ford gets for them. After removing sun roof switch trim panel, switch just unplugs.

Ford doesn't sell the bulbs, but you could probably find something suitable at an on line electronics site like Mouser. You will need to be careful taking the switch apart, it is snapped together but is not really meant to be taken apart.

I am sure I can figure something out and thanks for the tip. Now how do I get it down from the headliner? Any tips?

I'm still waiting for someone to weigh in on that, I've got that bulb out also. Sure seems like it just wants to be pulled down, doesn't it?? I've been lingering on this for about a year hoping it would come up here. It wasn't high enough on my list to make me start a thread, but since it's here now....

I'm the one watching and waiting, not actively making the fix. It hasn't bothered me enough yet to do anything about it, although one of my window switches recently went dark.

moonroof switch backlight

On my '03 EB 5.4L 2WD I have never seen the moonroof switch or power quarter window switch backlit. The QW's went intermittent and then quit altogether and were repaired by Ford under warranty. 6 years later they went intermittent again and quit altogether (again). I pulled the overhead console down and trouble shot the switch. The switch is good, the trouble lies beyond... I went to Ford to discuss repairing it and the service writer pulled up the electrical schematic for the moonroof switch and quarter window switch and there appeared to be no backlighting. I do not have the time to troubleshoot furher and may go back to Ford for repair.

I just pulled it down. It is held by spring clips. You may need a wide blade screwdriver for leverage.

You are welcome. Good luck - and any information regarding lighting, light bulbs, light bulb locations, switches, overhead consoles, general observations and/or philosophical outlook that you wish to share will be greatly appreciated!

Ford said they will repair the quarter window actuators for $500. I said no and popped off the paneling covering the actuators and measured the voltage to the motors while pressing the switch. Sure enough it is the motors that are bad - not the switch or wiring. Now, where can I find replacements other than at the dealer? Salvage yard?

The salvage yard is a good place. I retro-fitted the power vent windows into mine all with parts from the salvage yard.
