how to fit chrome side steps/bars
how to fit chrome side steps/bars
hi, ive just bought some second hand chrome side bars/step for a 2002 ford ranger. ive got brackets and bolts but no instructions, ive searched the web but can't find any. was wondering if anyone can give me any advice. thanks in advance.
The newer trucks here in the States have the side bars mount to the underside edge of the body by the doors. If you look under the body, over by where the door closes on the bottom edge of the door sill, a flange or part of the body under there is where the bracket might mount for the side bar. Some will mount to an existing hole or you may need to drill new holes. But this may not be the place to mount yours. It could mount to the frame or even on the lower part of the body mount bolts. One thing you might do is keep an eye out for a truck like yours with step bars, on a used car lot and take a look at how the bars are mounted. Or take a look at one parked on the street. Could also go to a shop that works on trucks or sells parts like that to ask about the mounting of the bars. If you can find a brand name on the bars, look it up on the web and maybe you can contact them for a copy of the instructions. Let us know how it goes.
If you can't find installation instructions on the manufacturers web site, send me a pm with your email address. I can scan the instructions for my Westin brand bars and send it to you. It's just two pages.
