1963 Mercury Tailgate

Anyone ever see one of these around for a reasonable price? I still haven't even found a wreck to get one off of. I have a good left kidney if anyone wants to trade.

The lettering is the only good thing on mine and is there a year of F series trucks I could take a tailgate off of and put the mercury stamp on?

I may have access to one. I will check on Tuesday. It may be in poor condition though.

There are THREE different tailgates, they do not interchange.

Is your truck a Flareside, Uni-Body, or a Styleside which uses the 1957/60 bed?

Longbox = Styleside, but which one?

Uni-Body (the cab is integral with the bed).

Styleside pickup that uses the 1957/70 bed.

Ford canceled the Uni mid-model year 1963, then used the 1957/60 bed on F100/250 2WD Styleside pickups.

Okay so its not a unibody so I should be fine if I can find a 57-70 styleside f100 tailgate and put the mercury lettering on? My hubcaps were stolen a long time ago does anyone make repro merc hubcaps too?

I looked this morning and all the tailgates are Fords

My tailgate is the original with the Mercury cut out and put in. The previous owner backed it into something and put a rather large hole in the Mercury. He found a newer tailgate and put the Mercury section in the original tailgate.

My 66 is starting to look like more work than I had anticipated. I'm seriously considering selling it.

1963 Mercury Tailgate

Did you ever find a tailgate? I have one ..... very good condition. It was taken off shortly after the truck was new and has been sitting ever since.

This is a three year old post. Do you have pictures of your tailgate?

Pictures ....

Here's a few quick shots. Both latches work although the right hand one really should be taken apart and cleaned up. It's all just surface rust. It has never seen salt and was only on the truck for the first couple of years.
