As soon as i complete my 390 build it will be going in to replace the 360 and none of my gauges work. I just order a tach for it but what is the best route for getting the other gauges? Is there a after market set with oil press, water, etc. that would be easy to swap or can the stock gauges be fixed to work well enough?
If the stock guages can't be fixed then you can get new stock guages from LMC or other aftermarket sets. I'm running stock guages and aftermarket guages for a more precise reading.
There are any number of quality manufacturers of aftermarket gauges used primarily in the hot rod industry. Any of them would work well. The biggest issue would be matching the fuel gauge with the sending unit in your tank.
You may be able to find a complete instrument cluster online such as on Ebay. Make sure you get the correct year, though as I understand there are sometime wiring discrepancies between the years.
There is probably someone around who could make repairs, but I think you would find a good used gauge set a lot cheaper.
What do you guys think about this? Would i be able to tie these gauges in easily? That would eliminate water, oil press, tach (when it comes), then possibly just try to get my old fuel gauge to work
I have a set of Sunpro gauges in my truck; I also had a set in my LTD. They work great. Make sure when you plumb the oil pressure gauge that you use copper tubing and not the nylon tubing that usually comes with these kits.
