Suspention Parts

Hi guys i picked up 79 pickup so i can change over to disc breaks and powerstering. I got the whole truck minus the front sheet metal for 275 bucks. I may have scored a few extra parts for future projects. The C6 trans was recently rebuilt but then the timing chain broke so it doesnt run. The guy i bough it from didnt know if the motor was a 351 or 400,hes a chevy guy. I didnt check either but will have to look into it. Its suposobly has a 9inch rearend but i have to check yet to be sure. Just wanted to share my purchase. Thanks

The engine is 351/400M not either or, and the 9" was used through 86.

Sounds like great price for your donor truck.

Not all 1977/79 F100/150's have a 9 inch rear axle.

In an effort to improve fuel economy, Ford installed Dana 44's in some of these trucks.

Dana 44 rear axle ratios: Some are 2.75-1 / Some are 3.07-1 / All Dana 44's have an inspection cover, the 9" does not.

1977/79 F100/350 & 1978/79 Bronco 351M/400: The block casting number is: D7TE-6015-AB, or AB1 or AB2.

You'll have to measure the stroke to determine the engine size: 351M = 3.50" / 400 = 4.00"

The engine code is the 4th digit of the VIN: H = 351M / S = 400.
