Master, Booster or Both?

Just completed a brake job on the truck where all the flex hoses were replaced along with new pads and shoes, the whole system was then bled with new fluid and either the booster or the master cylinder might be giving me trouble, here's the situation..

Brake pedel is rock solid with the engine off and no power assistance, start the engine and the pedal alomst goes to the floor BUT the brakes bite at about the travel on the pedal that you would expect, i am confident there is not air in the system as when you select drive and press the brake just so the car does not move you can hold it there for eternity without the need to press further, also a quick drive down the street confirms the brakes are OK, however i do not feel confident as the pedal will travel a fair bit further than it should

Ideas anyone?

Did you adjust your rear brakes? I did a complete job once like you did and had no pedal no matter what I did, until someone suggested I adjust the rears back up Oops.....

When u removed the brake hoses did the master cylinder run dry,if so did you bleed the MC first then the lines? How did you bleed the lines, by yourself, a helper, vacuum, power bleeder?

Its not the booster, you definitely have air in the system,is this your first time bleeding brakes?

Yes the system was drained and then bled through, first using a vaccum bleeber then using the old manual method to bleed the master cylinder.

If there was air in the system the pedal would be spongy and you would be able to pump the pedal higher, you cannot do this as it's rock solid without boost.

Did you bleed the RABS module? Needs to be bled after the rear brakes and before the front.

The RABS module is on the inside of the left frame rail about level with the drivers feet and has a bleed screw on it.
