I don't know the procedure for the Expedition/ Navigator, but it's pretty easy on the Explorer/ Mountaineer. Just remove the trim panel and the key pad is held by a sliding spring type of device that you will need to locate the end with a lifted tab. Using a large screw driver you just force the device toward the end of the tab and the keypad will be free to remove. Just follow the wires from the key pad to the plug in connector, unplug the wires and remove. Reverse the procedure for installation.
Go online to Pick N Pull and do a search for the location nearest you and check their inventory. Go to the location and find the key pad and remove it from the donor truck. It's good practice and that way you will know what you have to do on yours and if you break something on the donor truck it won't cost you like it would if you broke something on your own vehicle.
The key pad will only cost you about $10.00 and the learning experience will be invaluable.
