Well this summer i plan on finishing the body work of my pick em up truck. Currently i have two areas i need to weld in metal.
What im wanting to know is, my father has an old buick sitting in his drive way that he doesnt care if i use. Would i be able to cut off some metal from this car and use it to weld into my truck bed and front fender?
I was planning on doing this and throwing just a thin layer of bondo over the top of it after i get it welded in good.
Possibly, but it depends on what year your truck is and what year the buick is. Your sig says 81 for the truck, but you could be talking about a 48 to. And the buick could be from the 90's. Different thickness of sheet metals. If it closer in years, then there probably is not an issue using the buick metal. I have done it before (in a pinch), and I know someone that used to save trunk lids and hoods for filler metal, but sometimes its just cheaper or easier to go to the body supply store and just pick up a sheet of steel.
