Hey I have a 1980 F100 that wont start. I drove it to the store last night and when I hopped back in it it wouldn't start. The battery is charged and the terminals are clean.
Need a little more info here. Did it turn over but not fire up? Did it even try to crank, or not do anything?
There are so many different things that can be going on, and we can't even begin to point you in the right direction without a few more details about what happened when you attempted to start it.
If it doesn't even try to crank, the first step would be checking solenoid on the fender. There should be a small wire going to it. Make sure that wire is connected good.
You can also try jumping across the battery side to this small terminal with a screwdriver. If nothing happens when you try that, the solenoid itself is the issue. If it starts to crank, you a problem elsewhere.
IMPORTANT!!!!! If this truck has a manual trans, make sure it is out of gear before jumping at the solenoid.
Also, if it has an auto, make sure the gearshift is well seated in "Park", as the saftey switch won't let it start unless in park or neutral.
