p401 code cleared thanks forum

thanks to all the posts on this forum i cleared the infamous p401 code on my 1998 expedition 4.6 with 103000miles.i used all the data and was conflicted about taking it into a shop and have them replacing all the components and still having a code.clogged port egr or dfpe did not know where to start.i put a vacuum guage on egr and applied vacuum and engine only stumbled a little.i felt like the egr was probably ok and decided to go the cheapest way but that it would require the most labor.i propped open the throttle body and got and inspection mirror and was able to see 2 plugged ports comming from the egr valve. do not try to clean these by just removing the egr and trying to unplug from the outside,i tried and was unsuccesful ,they come up at a 90 degree angle. ithought it was very simple to remove the throttle body from manifold. i used an 1 1/16 wrench for egr tube, 10 mm deep socket on egr bolts, 8mm on manifold bolts.you unhook some vacuum lines and sensors throttle cable, spring all i needed was an egr gasket. $2. check the ports first if they are blocked solid cleaning them will probably fix the problem. thanks for the help everyone
