Looking for just a little more out of my motor. Its a rebuilt 351 w, bored .30 over, have a dynomax super turbo or something like that muffler on it. It does pretty good, definetly pulls now in fourth gear, much better than before. But what are some other relatively cheaper and simpler mods I can do to give this big heavy truck some more oomph and get up and go? I was wondering about an intake, but I don't know, any suggestions on some cheap and easy mods would make my day
if you do not have a 4v intake on it, I would start there with an edelbrock performer and 600 cfm carb. If that has alreay been done, I would look at the ignition. Make sure it has good wires, such as a set of the Ford Motorsport 9mm wires(the stuff down at schuck's does not cut it). If the truck is a stick-shift, leave the distributor alone, if it is an automatic, I would look at getting the distributor to bring in full mechanical advance by around 2500-3000 rpm. Next, the stock exhaust manifolds are garbage, and I would ditch those on favor of a really good header. Next, a full dual 2 1/4 inch exhaust, with two dynomax's, or a single 3 inch with a flowmaster 2-into-1 y junction where the two head pipes meet into the one single. Getting in further, the cam could use some attention, an Xtreme Energy 4x4 cam(don't have the specs handy), and then the last ditch, buy a set of Roush 180 heads and replace yours(do this with a cam swap). You do all of this, you should have a truck that should be more fun to drive than almost any stock mustang(cobra's and current GT's being the exception). :-staun
