Yeah, I just picked up a numbers matching 78 Lariat. Paint isnt quite as nice and its got about 12K more on the clock, but if anybody wants to save a few bucks and give me say 9,500.00 for it I would let it go.
i got all yall beat!! last weekend i brought home a numbers matching 42k mile 1979 f250 4x4, 400 w/ a 4spd. And the best part is i picked it up for $900. Did i mention its rust free?
What gets me is that if you are paying $12000 for a 1978 model truck, there shouldn't be anything to "fix up over time." Get real, people!
It's also interesting how people are freely substituting "all original" for "completely assembled" and "rare" for "old" these days. Apparently they mean the same thing. And just because you personally don't see something very often doesn't make it rare...it probably just means that you haven't met the tens or hundreds of thousands of people who already have the same thing. Certainly true in this case.
When it comes down to the value of old pickups, perception on the owner's part rarely meets reality on the buyer's part.
ok..I have seen trucks on here with 4" lift and 35's that look like they have more fender/tire clearance.....anyone else think one of his numbers is off?

Thats what I was thinkin. I thought you could fit like 37s under a 6" with these trucks
Yeah, its steep for sure,I wouldn't pay it.But think of all the fools paying close to $ 50,000 for a brand new f150,after financing and fees. An old truck in excellent condition is a no brainer compared to getting raped for a new one.Even if you had to put $2-3,000 into it to have it in brand new condition, you're still miles ahead, and riding in real style.
