So after countless hours of reading and searching i figured why not post a "new" thread. now i am sure you have seen this question thousands of time but please forgive me for asking yet again. i have been looking at a new tune for my 2004 6.0 for some time now. i have an SCT xcal II that i kept from when i had my mustang (and yes i set it back to stock so i can use it on my truck) so i was looking at Innovatives street tune. i am not studded. i have a company truck that i drive during the week so i only use this truck to drive to camp and the store and so on. i dont ever just hammer it from a dead stop. the only time i step on it hard is when i am passing a granny on the highway. i pull a trailer with a skid steer to camp now and then. so to make a long question longer what are the chances of blowing the heads if i dont drive it hard? thanks.
yeah i know there is always a chance. i bought this truck back in august 2009. report showed no engine problems at all. runs great. 139000 miles. i just really want that little added power for towing and just a little more than the innovative towing tune.

why do you need the extra power if you don't plan on driving hard? Once you felt the extra power believe me you will step on it!
The general consensus seems to be if you are tuning then you need studs. If you are not tuning it's not 100% necessary but would still be a good idea...
Innovative has a nice tow file, might add 15hp to the engine but the transmission file is better than stock. Head gaskets go on stock trucks so I agree 50/50 either way. Just my own opinion, towing on street or aggressive files, 99.9% chance you will see the problem sooner.
BTW, Welcome to FTE Rigs, posting a new thread about your truck is how we all became familiar with FTE. The guys here are always the best when you have a problem or question.

thanks. i love all the great info that i have found on here. i have been between the street and the tow tune just thought i would ask about the street. what is the transmission file they offer?
The tow file gives you a little extra hp but Innovatives shifting is by far one of the best combinations. I just helped a friend of mine with his 06 and he is really impressed with the tow file over stock. Street is totally different giving you more hp and great shifting but not what you want to tow with.
