zf6 flush and refill with syn

My 05 - 07 bumper will be in today and I'm thinking of adding my tru cool cooler and upgrading to syn atf while the bumper is off. First question is how should I go about flushing the system? Second question is what does eveyone reccomend for synthetic atf? Question 3 is does the zf6 have any filters I should teplace? Last but not least how much fluid do I need to buy?
Thanks in advance

Unless you have some reason and you know your tranny is running hot, I'd skip the cooler. There's no torque converter or slipping, or pressurizing valve bodies, etc going on inside your tranny.

The ZF-6 fluid swap isn't too hard.
1) stick pan under tranny
2) remove drain bolt on bottom
3) remove fill bolt on side
4) after old fluid stops dripping, replace bottom drain bolt
5) pump / pour new fluid into side fill hole
6) when fluid starts running out of fill hole, replace side plug.

Doesn't quite have the same ring to it as Marks auto tranny flush write up, but it will get the job done. I've got Mobil 1 synthetic in mine right now. Honestly didn't notice any difference between that and the regular stuff after the change, but I don't see it hurting anything.

If you do get the plumbing figured out how are you going to pump the ATF through the cooler?

Also, an e99 does not have an atf cooler in the radiator, it goes directly to an air-to-fluid cooler, at least with an auto.

Got a tranny temp gauge? I'd be interested to see what effect the cooler has on the temps as long as you're sticking one in there anyway.

Who knows what the threads are on the side of the ZF6 for the cooling lines? I've got nearly all the stuff I need to install an external cooler (Mazda RX-7 oil cooler) but I need to know the thread call-out on the fittings... I have a trans temp gauge and will be able to report back!

Anyone have a set of old lines they can cut the ends off and send to me??
