To add to my recent battery issuses the real issue has reared it's head.
The question I have is how hard is it to change?? I paid 250.00 for a new altenator and they want 200.00 to put it on. I dont think so!! Two bolts lossen the belt an a nut for the hot cable. I looked at the tech folder on top and didn't see anything. Any help is appretiated
takes a 1/2" breaker bar to rotate the belt tensioner to lock position. The belt tensioner has a small flip lock to hold it in loosened position. Unhook electrical wire, unbolt two alternator attaching bolts and maybe one more heater hose attaching bolt and it's out. Hardest thing to this job is loosening the belt. $200 dollars is pure Obamatization.

I think it's fordtization my self. Went in for a tranny flush and asked if they changed the in-line with it. The answer was no I asked how much for the filter and 40.00. After I paid the bill I got to looking it cost me 43.85 for someone to unscrew the housing take the old filter out put new filter in and screw back in! That is a 15min AT THE MOST THING TO DO!!!!!!!!!! Basically the altenator and tranny flush 550.00. Next time I'll try the flush doing it myself.

One of the best things I ever did was put a Suncoast inline filter on my transmission. It has a spin on cartridge and works 100% of the time where as the toilet paper roll only works at temps of 165* or higher. I know I'm gonna get bashed for this, but for an elcheapo tranny "flush" I've found it to be quite effective to drain the tranny pan, add 8 quarts, drive for 100-200 miles and then do it again. If you want to totally drain your tranny cooler too it might take 12. It works very well, at least for me.

You'll only get 8 qts. out unless you have a heated flush machine. The torqueshift has a t-stat in it that doesn't open til 165 degrees and the torque converter doesn't have a drain plug. Dealer charged me 133 for hot/press. flush that included 16 qts. of SP and 1 qt. of tranny conditioner. I could tell the diff. immediately.

You did get a great deal on your hot flush. Most of the service writers up here haven't a clue as to what it is and to change the front filter is extra $.
What is the difference between the SunCoast Tranny filter and the DieselSite Tranny filter?
What is the difference between the SunCoast Tranny filter and the DieselSite Tranny filter?
I've never seen the DieselSite filter so I don't know. The suncoast filter base goes in the tranny lines and uses an allison spin on filter that is supposed to be changed at 10K miles.
I think the "2 guys" to swap out the alternator is right. Although I was able to get the old one off by myself, I had to have the wife come help me with getting the new one in ($146 overnighted from Alternator Pros.) Might have taken less time with another guy (muscle power). And for all that struggle, I still couldn't figure out the tensioner lock.
