Brake Controller Wiring...

Sorry guys,i've tried the search and it just isn't happening.I can't seem to find which wire is hot for the brake controller,apparently the po cut the wires and theres no plug.I've tried using an ohmmeter and neither of the four wires are hot,i know theres a fuse but of course i don't have a manual,so can anyone tell me which wires are for what,...Any help would be appreciated......Thanks

If I can get a camera by tonight I'll take a picture of the wiring on mine. My roommate wired it up for me about 6 months ago so I can't remember off the top of my head which wire it is.

Are you looking behind the dash cover under the steering wheel, on the far right hand side near the steel dash frame support ??
There should be a grey electricial plug with 4 wires.. red, blue, green and white.

I know where the plug"WAS" located,but since the po cut the plug,i need to know what wires go to what,and also which fuse/relay controls it because i can't get power from either of the red,green,blue,and white wires using an ohmeter.

Under the hood fuse box, the "Trailer Tow Electronic Brake Controller" is #28, (30 amp maxi fuse) located at center row, 2nd fuse from the top.. You probably have to step on the brake pedal to get some voltage maybe..when checking with a volt meter..
Your controller instructions should have the color codes for the wiring...

Maybe you could go the controller's website for help on the wiring... or contact their support ...

After doing a quick search on google, I found this site....etrailer.com | Trailer Brake Controller Information

Red = hot
Green = stop light
white = ground
blue = brakes

So you might go and test the red wire. My 01 had a tag attached to it that told which wire is what, yours might have that too somewhere on the trailer brake harness.

OK,I checked this am,#28 fuse is good,all fuses are good unless i'm missing one,i still don't have power to either of the four wires,i also don't have a green,instead i have red,blue,black,and white,but neither has power,also,theres two smaller relay boxes beside the fuse box under the hood,do either of those relays have anything to do with the brake controller?,because two of the relays are missing from one box.....aarrggggg.

I think you are looking at the wrong wires.. Those are dead wires Ford puts thru the firewall for accessories for the owner.. The other end of those dead wires are located firewall, on the FAR right side under the hood..

I went to look at the location of mine. It is clipped in the hole in the metal frame that is to the right side once you remove the cover under the steering wheel.
