i have a 97 f150 4.2 v6 the truck wont start new batt new coil plugs wires iac valve the motor gets fuel and turns over fine all the fuses are good im lost dont know what else to look at. can anyone help????
i just had a thought maybe the timeing is off how would i be able to check it?
check the cam sensor and the crank senser did u do the work or someone if so just check the wires for all the eletrical start at the firewall somthing not pluged in
You have to look at two basic areas.
Fuel and ignition.
Which one is missing? then go down that path intead of spending on parts you don't need by guessing.
On your motor it's easy to check for spark at cranking..
Fuel,,,check for pressure.
Note that you can get into another problem cranking the motor with no ignition.
It pumps fuel into the cylinders and would foul/flood the plugs causing a no start as well.
Check plug tips for evidence of raw fuel indicating there is no ignition.
Once you see what is missing you have eliminated a lot of confusion.
For ignition, is something left un-plugged? is the crank sensor ok, is the cam sensor ok.
There might be a code set if there was a failure in electrical but not always.
Look for a code with a reader.
