On a 49 F1 what color was the motor painted? Also was the heads, and intake the same color? I need to get the paint ready so it can be painted in 2 weeks.
can't believe no one answered this one for you. i'll bump you back up and tell you i think the truck engines were red. if that's wrong, would someone jump in and correct it please. i'll see if i can do a search for you and find the right color. depending on car/truck, ford/merc and the year, it seems the flatties could have been bronze, tangerine, green, red and ?? good luck, dick r.

There were a number of colors the flatheads were painted and a number of different sources that add to the confusion. Some were green, some were gold and some were red (actually vermillion). It depends on the year and vehicle. But the 49 truck flathead (boththe 226 and the 239) were red.
It said on the web site that you gave Julie 49 f1 engine would be dark blue or green 491/2 bronze or green. Also would the heads and intake be the same color as the block? Also what Green are they talken about? I would like to match it up as close as possible.

For your truck they were red. They did not mix colors. Block, heads intake, and oil pan were all same color. Car engines were the other colors.

Oh see! I caught you being lazy! You didn't even look at the links I posted did you! Tsch Tsch.
There's a color chart posted in one of them that has the paint code for Vermillion. Look it up!
I don't mean to be mean, but this question has been asked and answered 30 times in the past two years. Yeah we have the info. But, I have a choice: I can retype (spoon feed) the same information 30 times or cut and paste a link for you to read.
Yes transmission was black.
Here's the color codes for the rest you needed. It's all here. If we go to the trouble to post the info in a link for you, please, at least, try looking at it.
