Tranny match up

Will the Mazda 5 speed Tranny match up to the 351w and will it be able to handle the power of the 351?

I'm pretty sure it will. Ford used this tranny a lot in the mid to late 80's mated to a 300 six. The 300 and 351W use the same bellhousing. I would imagine that Ford built some trucks with the 351 and this 5 spd, but can't say that for sure. I'd also imagine that it can handle the power output from the 351. The only negative I have heard is that the Mazda is not a very durable one.

I agree. Yes and no. Assuming that you use the correct 351W flywheel, it will bolt up like it belonged there. No, this gutless wimp will not take the torque of a 351W. Even a stock motor will twist it apart if you push it very hard. And you will. Why else would you want to go to a bigger motor?
