Need some advice.

Situation, I live in CO. where it gets cold in the winter. I pull a 30' 5er with my truck mostly in the mountains. The truck is stock and I'm pretty sure I will replace it with a new one within the next year or two years.

Getting ready to fix the EBPV oil leak. Not sure if I should delete it or not. And if I need to replace my turbo, should I replace it with a WW or not.

Should I do any upgrades while fixing the oil leak and how much will it benefit me?

Also, I was thinking of doing the CC mod. All I've seen for pics is the hose tied up under the truck. When this is done, don't you end up with a puddle of oil under the truck.

Looking for you advice, Thanks Brice.

If your going to replace it I wouldn't go overboard with it. What is your truck? Maybe for the price of tuning this one you won't need a new truck. From what I have read it won't laeve an oil puddle under your truck it just releases it into the air better. No sure though I haven't done it yet.

Two more posts and you can add a signature. (may take a day for it to kick in though after you get 25 posts)
Personally I think you will be happy after you fix the nessisary stuff and get a chip for the truck. I was extremely dissapointed in my truck until it was chipped.
I think you should just fix the ebpv so it still functions. I don't have warmup issues with my truck without it but I like the option of the "exhaust brake" function.
The cheap route to happieness with the truck. Fix ebpv. Check turbo for shaft play. If bad then replace. If not bad then 100 bucks for ww. Remove stock muffler for better flow. Send computer to Jody At dp tuner to reprogram for your application. His website offers an ecu reflash for $70. He can pep up your truck easily and have it be safe to to your 5th wheel.
A little money goes a long ways.

Fellows, thanks for the reply.

As for the repairs, I guess I will just repair the oil leak issues and boots if needed.

Would adding the WW. really do anything for me performance wise?

I really don't plan on getting a chip for this truck or putting that much money into it. I need a bigger truck. The extra cab just doesn't cut it anymore for us. With four kids they just don't have enough room back there.

Thanks.

The wicked wheel is intented to eliminate surge in the turbo...From what I understand will commonly happen after you add a tuner. I wouldnt go thru the time and effort IMHO to do this mod...It will not be needed. I would suggest any mods you do is a intake and muffler delete to help the engine breathe...Have fun.

The WW is a band-aid to help cure turbo surge or stalling that usually happens after adding a tuner. Adding a WW to a stock unchipped truck will most likely reduce performance.
If you are going to sell the truck then don't do anything except fix the pedestal leak, and while it's out don't forget the pedestal o-rings.
But as said above, if you were try out some good tunes from any of the custom tuners we all talk about around here, you might find yourself in love with your truck all over again, it will be a completely different animal. And then you'll probably want that WW after all.

With four kids and counting, yeah I would be getting a different truck too. Congrats.
Adding a WW will definately help with getting rid of the turbo surge when towing.
It cured my truck completely with no reduction in performance whatsoever. Stock tune.

There is always this option instead of getting a different truck.

We here in the 7.3 forum happen to think that the 7.3 is the last of the good engines and have no plans to sell our trucks in the near future.
So we do what needs to be done to be able to keep them on the road.
In the long run it's less expensive than buying a new truck, too.

OOOOOHhh
can I get it in a longbed though????
haha, a friend of mine cut and made a 4door extended cab longbed obs truck, lifted with 35s. It was a pretty killer looking truck. If I could find a 6door id own one. Not that I need 6 doors, because I rarely use 4; Its the principle of it though.
