is it possible to track down a problem with the engine by using the engine codes read by a hypertech programmer, researching the codes on here, and asking questions? So far the dealer has hooked up there computer and still hasn't solved the stalling/ no start issue so paying them is pointless. So far I have made a list of the codes i have pulled so far, deleted them and are still driving the truck around to see if new codes pop up. Then i will gather all the info and hopefully track down the bad sensor/ wiring. HOPEFULLY. The dealer is really no help that past 3 times the truck has been there.
so far the codes i pulled are:
p1280
p1249
p1212
p0340
p1211
p1200
Now the icp codes were due to me unplugging it while the truck was running to rule out the icp sensor but the cmp code has got me since we replaced it with a brand new one. I then put the old one back in and i am driving the truck around to see what other codes pop up. Also, the waste gate code. Could this be that i was towing and running at 2500 rpm's up a hill?
If you've got a stalling problem and a CMP code, you need to address that first. Step one is to make sure you only run a CPS from Ford or International. Too many problems with the aftermarket ones.
If your sure the CPS is good, unplug it and make sure the pins inside the connector are not bent, burnt or damaged. Make sure the rubber gasket thing is there in the connector. Trace the wires from the connector back and look for any chaffed spots, burnt insulation, etc.
Clear the codes and make sure the truck is set to stock program, then keep an eye on it to see what comes back. If you get more ICP codes, check the wiring to the ICP for any chaffing or shorts.
