I wouldn't mind that either, but we really wouldn't even have to show up to know the results of that one. Whoever has the most hp is going to win. Without any hills it makes gearing and low end torque pretty much a non-factor.

That would be a cool test.

I just wish I was in TN so Me and Josh could run each others trucks up that 3 mile hill. I think my V10 could be the fastest if I could get it to rev up and not do what Mikes did.

EDIT: Did you get the vid of your 7.3 on the same hill with that load?

With the 3 mile hill being 10% instead of the steeper grades in our tests, I think you would have a lot better chance of getting to rev like it should.

I haven't gotten a video of my 7.3 yet. I needed to hurry up and get the flowerbeds mulched before my mulch got up and walked away, so I used what I had that day. I am probably going to need another 30-40 bags, so I will be able to do more videos when I get back from vacation.

I just got back from doing it. 18,000 lbs 0-70, with of course 3.73s, 4R100 and NPI V10. Kind of a rough road and at 50 or so I started going up a small hill, but I can't think of a flatter road that the cops don't patrol.

YouTube - vid 011

33 seconds 0-60. Took 1/2 a mile to hit 70 from a stop.
I'll have to make anouther vid and see what my new PI V10/5speed can do.

Not bad at all-esp for an E-Series "box" with 18K lbs behind it.

And, that's with a non-PI head 2-valve V10 where it's obvious when the revs get up, it loses torque.

Impressive.

Great video Bill!

Just to clarify, you had 18,000 lbs on the trailer?

Or was that your combined weight?

Yes. And some cement blocks I had to get the weight up.

OK,so we've got this:
6.4L PSD @ 19,200 lbs 0-60 in approx 23 seconds.
6.8L 3V @ 21,000 lbs 0-60 in approx 27 seconds.
6.8l NPI 2V @ 18,000 lbs 0-60 in approx 33 seconds.

Sounds like they're all comparable to me towing a heavy load-esp considering the gearing difference in the older 2V 6.8L.

Yeah, I agree. Gearing probably had the most to do with the disparity between his van and our trucks.

Your 3V makes comparable power down low, but your short first gear allowed your engine to climb up and sing near peak HP far sooner than Bill's 4R100 did.

Had he had PI heads and a shorter first gear I think things would have been significantly different.

Give me a couple weeks and I'll post a vid testing that idea with the new truck.
